Honoring our Gold Star Families is a priority of the Auxiliary. Instead of recognizing their loss, we are celebrating their loved one's lives.

GSF can submit a photo and a recipe of their hero's favorite dish.It is our hope that when we collect enough of these recipes, we will create a cookbook in honor of these remarkable men and women to be showcased during our 95th National Convention in 2028.

We also ask that you share a favorite memory of your loved one and why he/she enjoyed this dish. Maybe it was a delicious birthday cake, perhaps a dish passed down through generations. Whatever the backstory ism let us know so we can add it to your love's one's recipe page.

As we receive recipes, we will list them on our website.

If you have questions, please contact Colleen Orfanello, Past National President at (504) 296-5022 or Recipes.MOPHA@gmail.com.

In honor of Keith A. Campbell

Homemade Spaghetti

1 lb ground beef
1 large chopped onion
2 cloves chopped fresh garlic
1 tablespoon parsley
1 tablespoon ground pepper
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon ground red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon cilantro
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon basil
3 small cans tomatoes paste
2 large cans tomatoes
Olive oil

Sauté onions, garlic and ground beef in olive oil till brown. Add can tomatoes, tomato paste plus one can of water to each can of paste, add remaining spices. Simmer on low for several hours. Adjust spices and seasoning to taste.

Prior to serving, boil salted water and cook spaghetti.

Serve sauce over spaghetti with tossed green salad and garlic bread.

This was a favorite recipe we had every Saturday night. Keith loved the aroma that permeated throughout the kitchen as the sauce simmered all day. The longer it simmered, the better it tasted.
